Greetings from President Elsa: Happy New Year to everyone
Our Birthdays this
month are: Gloria (16th); Manny (12th) and Jean (22nd)
Another New Year is
upon us. The time goes so quickly.
First of all the sad
news, that is that Charles passed away very unexpectedly in November. He will be missed. His Memorial was held on December 19th
and was very well attended and there were lots of good memories shared by the
people who were there. He has been laid to rest next to his mother and father
at the East Lawn Crematorium on Grant Road.
Our Christmas party
was fantastic as usual. The Garcias are always very generous by letting us rowdies
invade their house. We managed to donate
186 soft toys this year which will go to Toys for Toys and we also collected
62lbs of food to be delivered to the local Food Bank.
Photos were taken and
posted on Facebook, Heart of the West. Please check them out.
Our Region 8 meeting
is coming up on 6 January in Las Vegas and I will attach a letter for those
members who are going. We will be
leaving on Friday 6th, so we will not be at TGIF Bowling.
We are starting our
Special Olympic Tennis practice on January 14th after our first
meeting of the year.
We will be at Rincon
High School as usual.
I will not tell you what it is now because I
have to confirm details, but we will be having a special event sometime in the
near future. I will give you plenty of
time to plan, so look forward to this whatever it will
be.
Make New Year
resolutions to keep your dues up to date.
We will be planning
things throughout the year, so please try and join us in whatever it may
be. Other clubs do things that I think
we should be able to do with the cooperation of more than just a few members of
our club.
I would like to wish
everyone a safe and healthy New Year. I
am looking forward to 2017 as our Centennial Year.
